We've proven that builders make more money when they apply our cost control systems and show them how to add countless dollars to their bottom line.

Although controlling direct cost is the most effective way to increase profits, very few builders have the time or resources to properly manage gross profit. Even seasoned experts in purchasing and estimating have found our program to be invaluable. Many attendees found the networking opportunities alone were worth the price of admission. The wealth of knowledge you'll gain will be well worth your time, or your team's time. Discounts are available for multiple attendees within your organization.

CONFERENCE SESSION DESCRIPTIONS

What Is a System?

This hands-on session will help to define a true "system" and how you and your organization benefit from working within a system. We will illustrate and discuss the use of policies, procedures, reporting, and feedback, all of which will hep you define and control the systems within your organization.

Purchase Order System "Nuts and Bolts" - Part 1

We will discuss and define a true purchase order system and explain how it, along with several other components, can help reduce direct costs, eliminate errors, and streamline your process. We will also discuss the "crawl, walk, run" approach to purchase orders and how to monitor the results.

Purchase Order System "Nuts and Bolts" - Part 2

In this session we will provide tips on what purchase orders should look like, how much detail should they contain, who needs to get a copy, how they should be distributed, the proper approval process, and so on. We will show you how to utilize these documents as the major communication vehicle for your organization.

Variance Control System and Variance Reporting

Now that we've covered how to get your Purchase Orders working for you, what about exceptions? In this session you will learn how to handle the things that go wrong. We will define for you the Variance Purchase Order process, format, coding, and approval. We will show you how to define your variance percent and what good reporting looks like.

Selections and Option Management

Is your product line offering buyers what they want and are whiling to pay for? Are you "leaving money on the table" by including items as standard features that could be sold if they were offered as options? Once you have your plans and options defined, how do you structure the data and can your system handle it? If you have more questions than answers, this session will help you to sort them out!

Scopes of Work & Trade Agreements

Contract is a key component of the construction industry, yet many companies fall short in this area. Learn how to put together and administer solid scopes of work and trade agreement documents. We will show you what makes up a good set of contracts and how to use these documents effectively.

Purchasing Committee and Trade Councils

Estabilish a Purchasing Committee for effective communication with trades and vendors. Your organization will benefit through improved accoutability and more thorough evaluation of requests by employing the systems approach to just this one aspect of your operation. We will teach you the benefits and Best Practices structure for the committee -- all you have to do is set it up!

Managing the Purchasing & Estimating Department

Now we've covered the various components, in this session we will pull them all together and focus on what it takes to build a great team! You will learn how to hire, incentivize, motivate, and retain the strongest, most desirable players. With a few simple systems, you can build a stellar team to execute on any initiative efficiently and effectively.
